A record-breaking cold month. The coldest month in my records, and the
coldest December locally since 1890 or possibly before. Snow lay all on the ground all month. There were several new records, including a new lowest maximum, lowest minimum, and lowest highest maximum, all for any month. There was a total of 446 frost hours, including an unprecedented 195 hours from the 16th to the 24th. It was also a sunny and dry month. Average maximum 1.2 (-4.5) Average minimum -4.0 (-4.7) Average -1.4 (-4.6) Highest maximum = 6.3 (10th) Lowest maximum = -4.1 (21st) Lowest minimum = -11.2 (3rd) Total precipitation = 32.6 (56%, with 11.0 mm as snow estimated on the 26th). -- Trevor Summarised in Lundie, 1o miles NW of Dundee, elev. 185m Weather through www.trevorharley.com |
