Default [OT] Rainfall around Brisbane, Queensland

I picked the following up from the aussie.weather list

----------------
In the hour 7 to 8am EST, the heavy rainband running SSW along itself and SSW
from Mt Glorious gave 57mm at Mt Glorious, 85 at Savages Crossing (near
Ferndale, just downstream of Wivenhoe Dam), 66 at Marburg (where the old radar
is) and 54 at Tallegalla - all in a straight line NNE to SSW from Mt Glorious.
Rain in that line, which contains several embedded thunderstorms, extends from
Maroochydore to Warwick, and because it is running along itself will continue
to produce heavy totals. Mt Glorious Alert has had 191mm in the 23 hours to 8am
on top of 203mm to 9am yesterday.
----------------

The various sites referred to are in the hills just inland from Brisbane.
Hardly suprising that there is now serious flooding. It puts the "heavy" rain
episodes in this country into perspective.

Default Rainfall around Brisbane, Queensland

What is amazing is that Toowoomba is right on the crest of the Great
Dividing
Range at about 2000 feet above sea level. I think it is just on the east
side
of the E/W watershed. There's no river of any significance there and I
would
have thought that it is a most unlikely place to experience a significant
flood. The flood must have resulted from a huge rainfall total in a very
short
period of time.

At the end of the video when the flood had subsided you could see
that the river was indeed rather insignificant.
It looked much like a Boscastle style flash-flood with cars being swept
away rather than huge areas of innundation, as appears to being
experienced elsewhere in the area.
