Heres another unusual combination which I have just noticed but not
seen discussed elsewhere here or included in some extremes reported for Saturday. For East Anglian region for 24 hours to 23 2100Z (Saturday.) Over the sandy soil of Breckland, Norfolk The Met Office listed Santon Downham Climat station as having the Coldest night with Min of 4.5C, then it was Warmest place by day, 27.0C and also wettest with 20mm recorded . I was sitting out in Thetford that day, with Santon Downham about 4 mi. to NW. First Cu developing just NW of Thetford at 1200 local time, Glaciated Cb and first thunder 1345. Thunder and lightning continued non stop to 1745. OCNL light rain for about an hour from 1600 - would estimate less than a mm. Throughout the storm there always was brigtness showing beyond the curtain of rain to west and NW and absoulutely clear sky just to East and beyond. The whole cloud system showed little overall movement, but slowly spread out in situ. NSS Mid Suffolk |
