I blame the French for sending it across the Channel.

I just blame the French period

Beautiful day up here, with gin clear skies.
Cloudless apart from some cloud low in the SW which
has been there all morning and appears reluctant to disappear.

I am finding this wind a little tiresome now however. It's just
*incessant*. Day & night, it never stops!

I'd like to blame the French! Not a drop in Dawlish...............yet.
A short, sharp shower coming back over the Haldon hills this morning;
a few drops in teignmouth, but Dawlish has stayed dry.

Hi, Col,
I suspect the Pennines. Normally we gert that incessant westerly
blowing down the slope, it's your turn in this spell. I wonder if
there's been a Helm? Anyone in Cumbria can confirm?

It's not windy, only F6 for the last couple of days and only during
then day. Today is just an F4 hardly worth worrying about. It's just
not warm enough at 15C, the wind chill is only just above 5C. On
Friday it was only just above 10C and with the F6 windchill was down
at 0C...

There isn't a cloud in the sky and the RH has been very low (20%
today) So it's been pretty clear and no obvious cloud cap on
Crossfell etc. Never quite sure on the "best" direction the wind has
to be for the Helm to form, I think we might have to much southerly
component ATM.

My eyes seem to water all the time these days. A combination of
hayfever, the wind and old age I think. (Don't bother with the wind
jokes ;-)

Perhaps not by your standards but it's windy enough.
If you are sitting outside enjoying the sun and it's rattling
the femces & blowing loose objects about then in the higher
gusts it's certainly verging on the unpleasant.

There was 0.2mm of rain in neighbouring Teignmouth yesterday, in one
shower. I am becoming desperate for rain, as I'm loath to use
expensive tapwater for watering the garden. More rain moving off the
French coast ATM. I won't hold my breath............

Looking at the radar over the past few days, I'm surprised
you've missed out so much. Especially as given an easterly
and you being right on the coast, you'd be quite exposed to
any rainfall going.

I'm surprised too, Col. With the forecast and the radar, I've been
expecting some of the showers to affect us, but there's hardly been a
drop. It's very disappointing, but that's the nature of these showers.
Rain in East Devon and Exeter. Rain in Plymouth. Plenty of rain
further west. Sod-all in Dawlish. I'm enjoying the sunshine, yet
again, this morning though. There are compensations!
