Default Dawlish Rain Shield massacre.

7mm and rising quickly. That's more than we've had in a day in the
last 30 days and it'll soon be more in a few hours than we have had in
total in the last 30 days. What we have, almost everywhere in England
will get during the day. Moderate, persistent rain, heavy at times.
Windy too; a Force 5/6 SSE blow is driving the rain. Ground soaking
and water-butt filling rain. There'll be a wet dog (and owner) in
about an hour's time! Short walks and work today!

Sunny start here, very chilly with a min of 2.9C.
Cirrus now spreading in from the SW, I think that means something

It's a pity it's going to be so wet, but much to my surprise I
dodged the showers entirely yesterday and got the grass cut.

Looking at Ant Veal's site in Teignmouth, today's rainfall in about 15
hours, until it eased off, at 1500, to blowing drizzle which hardly
troubled the rain guage any more, at 31mm, was greater than the whole
of April and May combined. Now that has to be pretty exceptional! What
a foul and forgettable day. I'm glad I saved work for today!

Even with that huge belt of rain over us all day, we only scraped 7-8mm
here.

We did have the rarity (in summer anyway) of the maxima being at night,
though - about 5 to midnight in fact.
