'Among the phrases seen as pretentious or nonsensical were ‘a weather

And the Mail cannot see any irony in reporting this.

The worst offender, Desperate Dan Corbett has now gone of course,
no more talk of picnic hampers and digging that wet weather gear out
of the back of the wardrobe, thank goodness!

I don't mind references to Wimbledon, it is after all a major sporting
event that is very weather dependent that people all over the country
will want to watch.

However some of the sporting events mentioned seem to be little more
than advertisments for coverage on BBC TV or Radio 5 Live.

What annoys me most is that on 'Breakfast' they have a given
timeslot for the weather yet Carol Kirkwood will waste a good
proportion of that wittering on about the hanging baskets at
Wimbledon, or even worse the hats at Ascot a few weeks back.

Now I have nothing against hanging baskets or outrageous hats,
but *please* if this is a weather slot, I want to hear about the weather!
