Default Another glorious day on the tip of the UK.

Well, it was supposed to be all change today (SW forecast rain,
windier, cooler, might brighten in Cornwall later, that sort of
thing.) Forecasting the general synoptic set up is one thing, getting
the actual weather right is clearly another.

In practice, that slack pressure gradient just behind the front gave
another spell of lovely weather, 3-4 hours of unbroken sunshine &
light winds on the coast. All very clear on this morning's satellite
imagery, so I changed my plans - just as well.

Just how good it was can be seen at http://www.turnstone-cottage.co.uk/temp.html
I was there for 3 hours, and the sun was out all the time. There was
little surf, so I suspended a thermometer about 2' below the sea
surface in about 6' of water, and it read around 18C. The slight
onshore breeze & sun really warming it up.

It reached reached 21C on St. Martins, Scilly, & 19.5C on the Island
at St Ives

Camborne had 49.8 hours of sunshine 1st-4th (12 hours a day), much
less there today, but plenty right on the coast.

Ah, funny you should ask. Morning was dry with sunny spells and an
increasing wind. There was then around 3 hours of strong winds (F5 in
Penzance, F6 in more exposed spots) and heavy bursts showery rain.
Blustery with sunny intervals & brief showers since 15:30. Temperature
between 16C & 17.5C much of the day.

Still, hopefully the worst is over. I think most of the day time
showers should be inland from mid morning tomorrow, aligned with the
peninsula, may be OKish right on the coast. To my untrained eye the w/
c Saturday looks pretty good for southernmost counties (and Essex!).
