Default Mid-July and the long-range summer forecasts in ruins....

Oh well. And we should have had a super summer with all that hype.
It's disappointing that all those agencies and people were wrong but
entirely understandble. I just wish, like the MetO, that they would
admit to the difficulties, instead of the agencies trumpeting the odd
correct forecast as evidence of proficiency and individuals using
phrases like "as expected" when something does happen to turn out as
forecast.

Surely the people that paid for last winter's forecasts from these
agencies won't have renewed contracts? But there are always new
customers out there, willing to believe the publicity and the claims.
