Default Hurn rainfall this morning (4th)

.... (4th August, 2011): not sure what's happened to the Hurn output,
but on the SYNOP at 06Z, only a 'trace' was shown (and therefore a
'trace' for the 24hr).

In fact, it's been moderate, isolated heavy rain here (only a few
miles away) since around midnight: at 06Z we had accumulated ~11mm
(electronic), and currently (0830Z), we're up to 22 mm (electronic).

I'll be doing the check-gauge in about half-an-hour.

Martin.

.... rainfall read at 09Z (24hr from 09Z/3rd August) = 23.7 mm,
essentially in the 9 hours since midnight.

The reported hourly rainfall totals from Hurn show a "trace" in every hour from
00z to 06z.

20.2mm recorded today in Springbourne. Noticed from the radar that a clump
of rain passed just north of here while it was relatively light for a time
this morning, which might account for the extra few mm that Martin got.

Unfortunately I decommissioned the Davis station I ran at work last month,
as our site at Hurn is closing tomorrow.
Whether I will put it up at our new location near Fareham remains to be
seen.

22.60 mm here in West Fareham, starting around midnight and all
falling before noon.
