It's looking like today's maximum will end up being only 16.7°C. That's
a rather unusually cool day for August. There has been a clearance visible to the north for most of the late afternoon and evening but it has failed to get here until now. With the first sunshine of the day now shining, it has prevented this from being the the first sunless day of August, and the first day without sunshine since the 20th July. Even so, the sunshine total for the month to date is only 84 hours, this is well below the average for August for this date in the month. Rainfall has been slowly edging up and the monthly total now stands at 37.4 mm (78% of the eLTA). Despite today being cool and it being rather dull and rainy at times so far this month, it has been a reasonably warm first half of August with current mean values (1st - 17th): Mean min = 13.1°C (+1.1°C) Mean max = 21.5°c (+0.3°C) Mean = 17.3°C (+0.7°C). A calm, clear evening. (19:35), 16.0°C, RH 80%, DP 12.1°C, 1015 hPa (F), Wind 1 mph N. ____________________________ Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |
