Per RainToday, there looked to be a pretty nasty area of rain last
evening over the south coast in the area around Brighton. Anyone got any
info about that?

Had a pretty beefy shower here last evening too - had about 3.5mm in 3
minutes, totalling around 7mm altogether.

At some time during the night, there was torrential rain in Cranleigh,
Surrey, though it didn't last for long. It was loud enough to wake me
up, even though I had my bedroom window closed. I wasn't awake enough to
check the time, unfortunately.

.... I think you caught the northern 'leg' of the heavy rain band
associated with a trough that we got around midnight GMT ...

Total rain 14 mm, setting in ~10/2330Z SEP, ceased by 11/0200Z SEP,
but the heavy phase (and it woke me up too) seemed to be from 2330Z to
just before 0100Z. I was expecting to hear a crack of thunder, but
nothing and this confirmed by the ATD returns.

Martin.
