Well at 14000' and 25000' we are now running the coldest temperatures
for ten years. Now a certain person chided me recently saying that the source of these measurements AMSU of Hunstville Alabama had warned some time ago that only the 14000' reading should be trusted, Howevr that was before as Dr Roy Spencer explained they'd switched over to the aqua satellite which was far more reliable. Just to be sure I emailed the AMSU team enquiring whether what we were seeing wa an artfact of a satellite problem. Dr Spencer kindly replied to me in person saying "Lawrence: yes, it appears the recent AMSU temperatures on the Discover website are reliable...could be that October will see a substantial fall in the final numbers. -Roy Spencer" So we can trust the data this time around which makes it all very interesting and backs up Joe *******i's theory that the PDO was going into a cooling phase similar to the 1950's. Of course this doesn' tmean weather wise that we will be experiencing colder winters but the pernutations must now be higher. Look for yourselves and Dr Spencer has updated his website covering this issue http://www.drroyspencer.com/ I will now don my kevlar vest. |
