Well it won't be an old one, that's for sure.
Just how many mistakes is it possible to make in one article? http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/...to-hit-Britain Someone from PWS must be sleeping with the features editor. 8)) Thank goodness for the voice of reason from the MetO at the end. |

All the usual cliches are there, 'Big freeze', 'Arctic blast'. 'Torrential rain', 'chaos', 'battering' etc, etc..... And since when did 65mph gusts cause 'chaos' anyway, and indeed Katia never 'devastated' anywhere. Storms like Oct 1987 do that. Someone from PWS must be sleeping with the features editor. 8)) Thank goodness for the voice of reason from the MetO at the end. Yes, the forecast for the next few days looks showery and windy with longer spells of rain at times. It could get pretty lively up here tomorrow but it's just normal October weather. I'll have to deal with this at work tomorrow now, just like with Katia..... -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl |

Unfortunately weather can never be normal to some of these people. It always has to be extreme and hyperbolic -- not to say wrong. Then some of us are left fighting fires. "Katia", according to PWS, was supposed to bring "some of the worst conditions seen in many Britons liftimes". This was of course arrant nonsense; but i(f they're going to say that the current winds (which they have no qualms wrongly calling a hurricane) are worse than that -- well, then they'd have to state that there would be "chaos" nationwide, wouldn't they? Once again it's irresponsible scaremogering with no evidential basis. It's interesting to note, however, that the PWS website "comment" or "top story" has beaten something of a retreat; I should imagine because they have been soundly appraised of their ignorance. Actually, I say "they" but I should say "he". PWS comprises essentially one man with indescernible credentials and a conveyor belt of fictional young female "assistant forecasters". The gardener is real enough, though, and the two chaps might be, making their contributions from afar. |

I've drawn attention to the PWS' forecasting "team"s composition before. They gain publicity by issuing ridiculous OTT forecasts which the Daily Express uses for sensationalism and promptly forgets about the next day. Ignore them. |
