Here is a summary of the NWP output for noon on Friday.
Issued 0443, 24/10/11 Saturday will see generally settled conditions in the southeast with rain further north and west. The unsettled conditions may spread to affect all areas on Sunday. Analysis and evolution to T+120 via GFS A deep low covers Ireland, leading to strong SE'lies over the UK. There are ESE'lies tomorrow as the low fills over the Irish Sea, followed by southerlies on Wednesday as the low loses its identity. A weak ridge brings light winds on Thursday. T+120 synopsis http://www.wetterzentrale.de/wz/pics/Rtavn12014.png http://www.wetterzentrale.de/wz/pics/Rtavn1201.png http://www.wetterzentrale.de/wz/pics/Rukm1201.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/wz/pics/Recm1201.gif http://www.wetterzentrale.de/wz/pics/Rjma1201.gif The jetstream chart shows a ridge over the UK, as is the case at the 500hPa level. The other runs have westerlies aloft with a weaker ridge. At the surface GFS has southerlies and SE'lies with a ridge over East Anglia. The other runs have a ridge over SE England with SSW'lies elsewhere. Evolution to day 7 Southerlies cover the UK on day 6 with ECM, with a large ridge to the east. A trough moves over the UK on day 7, leading to SW'lies for all. GFS shows a col over England and Wales on days 6 and 7, with SW'lies elsewhere. Looking further afield ECM shows SW'lies on days 8 and 10 with a low to the NW. Day 9 sees NW'lies with a trough to the east. GFS days 8 to 10 were unavailable at the time of issue. Ensemble analysis http://www.meteociel.com/cartes_obs/...&ville=Londres GEFS continues to show relatively mild weather for the rest of October. ECM ensembles http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/meteo/ep...tt6-london.gif The ECM ensembles also show temperatures at or above average for the rest of October, followed by a drop in temperature in November. |
