Yesterdays persistent rain gave a total of 19.2mm up to 16:00
yesterday (4.2mm in the early hours, 15.0mm 09:00-16:00) At no time could it be called heavy, just enough to get very wet. It was a different case during late evening yesterday. Some very heavy rain around 22:00. A further 14.9mm fell in total. Rainfall total 09:00 on 24th - 09:00 on 25th - 29.9mm. Wettest 09:00 - 09:00 period since 1st May, and 61st wettest such period in my 20 years of records. So a total which is, on average, exceeded around 3 times a year. Approx total for the 24 hours of the 24th - 33mm. Still well below the totals to the east (49mm at Camborne), well above the total to the west (15mm on Scilly). The ground was so dry before, it's had little effect on the river levels. Chilly after the rain, a min of 5.7 last night Graham Penzance - Nice morning |
