Default Goodbye to all that ......

Headline in this week's "Bracknell News"

' Met Office ends forecasting '

Apart from being three weeks late with the news, I don't think this is
the impression intended!

Martin,

I'll think you'll find the same press release was sent out no less than five
times, this one managed to get the front page... bit sad really, are the Met
Office employing spin?. The interesting thing is the reason behind the
move.... I thought it was due to expansion until I was talking to a
journalist at a London radio station today who told me what he said was the
real reason. In short, the rent at Bracknell was too high and they needed to
find somewhere cheaper as the Met Office is now (for the first time) losing
more money than it's making.

Clearly, they aren't charging enough to commercial organisations and
websites for data collection and supply!

Is there any particular reason why the Met Office *should* be making money?

'Public Service' and all that.......
