Again it illustrates that the people who were forecasting cold weather in the UK, or in the US, in December were just guessing. The same is true of anyone saying that this winter in the UK is just about to start, as no-one can forecast the second half of January, or February, from the viewpoint of January 6th. Simply don't believe anyone that is forecasting that and if they are right this time, smile and know it was a hope for cold weather that ended up correct. *)) |

The models seem to be fluctuating now in the medium term, yes flip/flopping, but up to the last few days it was zonal consistency. Of course with the current weather, any change is going to mean colder, as if gets any warmer I'll eat my hat ;-) Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net "Weather Home & Abroad" |

Not a forecast at all. Wait and see if it turns colder and watch what this turns into in hindsight. If it doesn't turn colder, there unlikely to have been a forecast. *)) |

If you look at the article, very little of the UK experienced significantly above average temperatures - but a huge proportion of Europe (and the USA) did. -- Freddie Bayston Hill Shropshire 102m AMSL http://www.hosiene.co.uk/weather/cumulus/ |

He's talking about December 2011, as his section headings and the captions to his graphics make clear, and I don't see how that can have been the coldest December in your record. Don't be fooled by the "entrynum=2010" bit of the URL; that's no more than a potentially confusing coincidence which doesn't relate to the year. -- John Hall "The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it."
