Or are there more questions than answers or maybe just too many models
to cross. However: Okay Stratospheric warming creates Tropospheric cooling-why? I also understand that the Polar Vortex being knocked of its perch leads to a far less active jet stream and westerly's at out latitudes with ridging and troughing far more likely but is that due to stratospheric warming as well. Finally: Will who works for UKMO still seems keen for a cold event next week with possible snow in the SE, however the organisation he works for says nothing of this. Meanwhile the only model now showing this possibility is the ECMWF, which may have changed its mind as I type. The GFS sees none of this and is very different from the previously mentioned model. Out of the 'Big Two' something has to give. Will. I'm not trying to put you on the spot or anyone but so many inconsistencies over a short time span. I mean the 0z ECMWF next Saturday looks, as they say colloquially is as "Sweet as a Nut" for coldie fans http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1921.gif However the 12z GFS at 192 couldn't be more different and disappointing http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1921.png Where do we go from here? |
