The colourful rainfall radar yesterday evening hinted at a right soaking
for here after what has turned out to be a long, dry period since the 5th Jan. But in the end only 6.8 mm has fallen in the last 24 hours, bringing the monthly total to 31.2 mm. A lovely, sunny day after a cool, showery start with a maximum of 10.2°C and 6.4 hours of sunshine. Overnight minimum was 4.1°C. I suspect the colder weather over the next few days will drag the mean temperature down somewhat, currently at 8.2°C. But this month may still end up the warmest January I have ever recorded, with the previous warmest January being in 2007 with 7.6°C. Sunshine for the month stands at a moderately healthy 75 hours. Venus and the new moon made a photographic pairing in the western sky earlier on this evening. A chilly, crystal clear, starry evening. (20:10), 3.3°C, RH 86%, DP 1.2°C, 1014 hPa (R), Wind 1 mph SSW. -- Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |
