After early heavy hail showers, the 26th was dry from 08:00 to early
afternoon with good spells of sunshine. The temperature rose to a maximum of 10.4C around noon, also exceeded 10C at St. Ives. The SST of 10.5 - 11C no doubt helped. There were heavy showers off Land's End, but they seemed to decay as they approached land, with just the remains of anvils drifting overhead. The afternoon saw much more in the way of cloud (Cu & Cb) but the showers mainly rain just off the north coast, or developed over land. It also turned somewhat colder, with mid afternoon temperatures nearer 8C. The total rainfall for the 24 hours ending 09:00 today being just 0.4mm. Last night's minimum 4.8C, enough breeze to stop it dropping too much. There was a very heavy hail shower at 08:30 this morning, literally a few hundred yards to the east, (I know, I drove through it!) but virtually nothing at my site. One of those showers where water's steaming down the road, and 200 yards away it's basically dry.
