Default Candlemas Day .... good news for all you snow lovers!

.... from "Red Sky and Night, Shepherd's Delight" (Paul Marriott), in
addition to the usual .... " If Candlemas be fine and clear, We've half
the winter to have or more ... " (etc.), he has this:-

" As far as the sun shines in at the window on Candlemas Day, so deep
will the snow be ere winter is gone "

We've just had our second day in a row with unbroken sunshine .... based
on Hurn, just over 7 hours each day ...

Trouble is, *our* February 2nd isn't the same as the 'ancient' February
2nd. Still, makes you wonder :-)

Martin.

Current forecast here (BBC weather site) is:
Friday 2°
Saturday 4°
Sunday 6°
Monday 8°

A rather lovely outlook with rain only forecast for Saturday.
Warm and toasty. Will it be spring soon? (:

If Candlemas be fair and clear there'll be twa winters in the year

....is the version I know, but there are countless.
