Very light but settling on car roofs.
Have to admit I'm surprised, I thought the precipitation was staying
very much further north and west of here today, with nothing here
until later in the weekend.

... just started snowing here (09/2040Z); a few flakes lazily floating
down.

.... (09/2130Z): light snow (often fine, seldom larger flakes) since
above report - always in the 'just about' category; a few patches of
snow-lying now appearing on grass otherwise no impact.

.... (09/2205Z): stopped for the moment; odd patches on grass otherwise a
non-event, though I note that the radarnet promises a little more over
the next couple of hours.

.... (09/2215Z): re-started, still light technically, but larger flakes
now and surfaces picking up cover more readily. Off to bed ... morning
should be interesting.

(Wonder what the chap who devised the categories that go round many
aneroid hall barometers would make of this lot :-))

.... (10/0340Z): wandering about so a snow report: depth around 2 to 4 cm
depending upon surface; lower 'blacktop' surfaces: traffic OK - enough
for children to get excited but nothing more.

.... (10/0545Z): even the children might not be excited. OAT creeping up
- now +1.3°C, and snow cover already looking a bit threadbare (though
90%). Traffic moving without (apparent) problems. I can hear the A31

about half-mile south of us and that is obviously doing well.

.... (10/0715Z): intermittent light drizzle past hour or so, many
'black-top' surfaces clear, roads certainly fine: roofs
clearing/thinning - grass cover, non-continuous: OAT = +1.3°C, and
everything is looking rather drab.

Nothing but rain on the south coast here. 5C and a particularly dark
and miserable-looking morning. *((

==================

Same here in West Somerset near the coast - the worst kind of winter
weather, drab, grey, cold (+0.9C) and drizzle....
