Anyone know who provides the BBC Weather pages with their air
pollution forecasts ? The BBC London weather page at http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2643743 shows "pollution LOW" whereas the more authoritative page at http://www.airtext.info/ shows Forecast of Air Pollution Index for: Saturday February 11th, 2012 Central London: MODERATE air pollution expected everywhere Indeed, it looks as if the level appears to be 6 at the high end of the moderate band. |

The BBC site may be less "authoritative", but given the latest measurements is appears more accurate! http://uk-air.defra.gov.uk/latest/cu...gion=15#levels Jim |

![]() Thanks for that link. Checking now has given the results for the London automatic monitors ozone 9 reading low (8x1,1x2) hourly mean NO2 11 reading low ( 9x2,1x1,1x3) max 15min so2 6 reading low (6x1) 24hr mean pm2.5 1 reading low ; 8 reading moderate (1x3, 3x4,4x5,1x6) 24hr mean pm10 1 reading low ; 6 reading moderate (1x3,4x4,1x5,1x6) Given the major health concerns associated with particulates, I think the alert level of the BBC forecast (wherever it is derived from) should have been higher , in line with the airtext warnings. |

With the wind having been fromthe east in southern England, you would certainly think that a fair amount of pollution might have been brought over from the Continent. -- John Hall "The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it."
