A bright start to Saturday with frequent sunny intervals (6/8) and a
freshening breeze from the SW. (10:53), 10.6°C, RH 76%, DP 6.1°C. 1013 hPa (F), Wind 12 mph SW. I suspect the temperature will not rise much more before the arrival of the cold front. Rainfall now moving into north Devon & Cornwall but some sunshine is still managing to hang on here. Yesterday (17th) Min = 8.4°C Max = 12.2°C Rain 0.0 mm Sunshine = 2.7 hours. The February mean temperature is climbing quickly back up, now at 4.3°C. If the forecasts turn out to be correct, this month could end up like December & January, i.e., above normal and that would make this winter overall, warm, dry and quite sunny. -- Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

Rain proper started 12:15. Looks like it will only last around 90 minutes. Mean temperature here now 5.2C. It will probably end up warmer than Feb 2010 (5.8C) Return of a swell http://www.sennen-cove.com/todaysurf.htm Graham Penzance |

Cold front passed over at around 15:00 with the wind direction swinging round from SSW to NW. The CF deposited all of 1.4 mm of rain, and the maximum gust was 25 mph. Temperature slowly dropped during the rain from a max of 11.2°C, down to 9.8°C just prior to the CF, then it abruptly dropped around 2 degrees to 7.7°C as the front passed through. The day now ends as it started, with light wind and sunshine, but a little colder. (17:00), 7.8°C, RH 76%, 3.8°C, 1012 hPa (R), Wind 3 mph NW. -- Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

Now +3.8C at 1700. 5mm rain and a 3 degree temp. drop on the cold front. Just been putting the final touches to my route tomorrow. As it is going to be such a nice day, I've lengthend it by a mile. Max. +2C wind chill -4C and scattered snow showers above 1500 feet tomorrow, should be good. http://www.lyneside.demon.co.uk/Hayt...antage_Pro.htm Will Hand (Haytor, Devon, 1017 feet asl) --------------------------------------------- |
