The temperature has seen a steady rise during the day from just above 2C to
9.1C at 17.00GMT. Despite that, it's felt really cool and the 'apparent
temperature' of 3.6C is just about spot on in my reckoning. It's been a bit
breezy and mainly overcast.
The 'drought' appears to be making big news on the radio with most bulletins
warning of hosepipe bans and the like sooner rather than later. We're quite
lucky here in the Northeast of England in that despite being on the east
side of the Pennines and having a drier climate, we get most of our water
from Kielder (I think the largest man-made lake in Europe... I think) and
it's hard to believe we could ever possibly empty it.
