Why not bet a nomimal 10 pounds, then you can play for pride rather than high stakes? Not everybody has 10k just lying around you know! Actually on AGW we are playing for much higher stakes than that. The OP issued challenge "money where mouth is" and Dawlish has offered him a bet for £10k. Now lets see if he has the balls to take it up. Actually Lawrence started the thread to ask what the AGW 'believers' were doing in financial terms to reduce emissions. Nothing to do with a personal bet. -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl Thanks Col. I think a wee tad of diversion is taking place here. |

Fortunately my kids' children will not have to suffer what people like you would like to inflict on them, as no-one takes deniers like you seriously. Don't try to play the victim. He's not allowed to strike out with physical threats any more and he's wriggling dreadfully. Accept the bet Larry, or apologise for trying to spread cherry-picked idiocy about global cooling. |

Well Adam you do own a car but don't tend to do any mileage. 1,000 miles per year, are you sure that's twenty miles per week and seems rather a waste of insurance and vehicle licensing cost. At least you're being honest and its commendable that you purchase electricity from Good Energy-is it the same price as non -clean?. Yes, I use the car maybe once a fortnight to drive to work, more to give the engine a run than anything. I was actually considering selling it but have found that there are a handful of situations where the car really came into its own, so I would be apprehensive about getting rid of it and relying entirely on my own (limited) energy and public transport. The insurance and tax is about £350/yr so it is not a huge expense. The Good Energy tariff is a little more expensive than a regular tariff, but as my electricity bill is only around £50/qtr it doesn't make a lot of difference in reality. |
