Why not bet a nomimal 10 pounds, then you can play for
pride rather than high stakes?
Not everybody has 10k just lying around you know!

Actually on AGW we are playing for much higher stakes than that.

The OP issued challenge "money where mouth is" and Dawlish has offered him
a bet for £10k. Now lets see if he has the balls to take it up.

Actually Lawrence started the thread to ask what the
AGW 'believers' were doing in financial terms to
reduce emissions.
Nothing to do with a personal bet.

Thanks Col. I think a wee tad of diversion is taking place here.

Well to put my cards on the table.
I own three vehicles, a renault megane (new), a fiesta (old) and a VW

I consider myself to be very wealthy in that I am in very good health, live
in a lovely house in a nice part of the country with a lovely wife and
family. I am also extremely happy. I do not use alternative energy but I do
burn log fires and am very frugal with heating (most of the time we don't
consider it necessary). We have few "gadgets" in the house and love the
simple pleasures of gardening, walking and playing sport and I like the odd
pint or three! I'm also into mysticism and I meditate whenever I can. Life's
good and I appreciate and am thankful for all that I receive. I accept the
facts of global warming but am sceptical over predictions for the future but
do see the need for all of us to take responsibility for our use of
resources on this (still beautiful) home we call Earth.

deafening.

That "silence" has told you to put your money where your mouth is.. You

You have said that we are apparently experiencing global cooling, so
how on earth could the world experience a *record* global temperature
within the next 5 years? It should be easy money for you. Name your
price Larry. Wouldn't it be great to take £10,000 off this 2-car, low-
mileage, litter-picking, walk-to-shop, composter, vegetable growing,
low carbon person who enjoys his life. A person who will happily
shoulder his share the tax burdon that will fall on us all - including
you - due to carbon reduction, which will improve the world.

Here's your chance to be a man Larry. Any amount from £1,000 -
£10,000. I've answered your question; now bet me.

By the way you can forget the bet as I really don't know which way the

A hypocrite is all you are. I have no problem with my lifestyle, but
you hate yours and everything in it.

I'm another one that is fed up of your denier's whining. I can set the

Couple of things Paul

I started this thread only to highlight the fact that that handful of
people who can't wait to jump on me when I occasionally point out any
evidence that's contrary to rapid warming script that we seem to hear
about every day, couldn't think it was that *much of a problem if in
their own personal lives they still happily enjoyed the fruits of
fossil fuels. *That was purely the purpose with no money involved bar
the bankruptcy of some moral ground high standers being exposed.

My point has always been no one know how the global temperatures with
finally pan out as nothing is totally certain. Now you want to throw
in this stupid bet that has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact
that you bleat on about AGW that not only do you not have clean energy
solar panels on your South Devon roof you also own and run two cars
but do your bit by picking up the odd discarded toffee paper when
going for your green stroll to the corner shop,

I think I've proved my point exactly where you are concerned and
without a wasted penny changing hands.

Why is it that *every single scientific institution, every single
national science academy and every single stable government *on the
planet*, together with nearly every climate scientist and physicist
feel that they do know what will happen to global temperatures in the
future and why do a few deniers like you keep telling us, on regular
occasions that they don't know and that they are all wrong and the
world is cooling because you've seen something colder?

Science in this too. Well, Larry?

It's "money where mouth is time". Or stop your silly attempts at non-

cherry picked some graphs. You opened this thread for a very specific

You've put your web site out there in the public domain and advertised

As for the stalking, why do you keep on asking if I live on my own how

Many. Why do you ask? If you have nothing else to say, leave the
dispute to those involved, please.

Larry has been accused of hypocrisy and offered a bet in return, which
he is scared of accepting. He's not allowed to strike out with
physical threats any more and he's wriggling dreadfully.

Accept the bet Larry, or apologise for trying to spread cherry-picked
idiocy about global cooling.

Well Adam you do own a car but don't tend to do any mileage. 1,000

rather a waste of insurance and vehicle licensing cost. At least
you're being honest and its commendable that you purchase electricity
from Good Energy-is it the same price as non -clean?.

Yes, I use the car maybe once a fortnight to drive to work, more to give
the engine a run than anything. I was actually considering selling it
but have found that there are a handful of situations where the car
really came into its own, so I would be apprehensive about getting rid
of it and relying entirely on my own (limited) energy and public
transport. The insurance and tax is about £350/yr so it is not a huge
expense.

The Good Energy tariff is a little more expensive than a regular tariff,
but as my electricity bill is only around £50/qtr it doesn't make a lot
of difference in reality.

To deliberately upset you Joe. Now ignore it, if you have nothing to
say.

Bwahahahaha, nice one Paul - ego the size of a planet, as ever.

I agree with Richard: you may be killing the group, but at least you're
funny.

Goodness me. Agreement.

However, I am with Joe P and others on this. It's rather selfish to
expect the rest of the group have to adapt to these increasingly
tedious bickerings when they infect so many threads.

Stephen.
