Default Today's model interpretation (7/03/12)

Here is a summary of the NWP output for noon on Sunday.
Issued 0451, 7/03/12

Next week will start with high pressure close to the UK with settled
conditions for most. The high will drift eastwards, drawing mild or very
mild southerlies and SSE'lies over the UK for the middle of the week.

Analysis and evolution to T+120 via GFS
SSW'lies cover much of the UK as a trough moves eastwards. Tomorrow there
are westerlies as a weak ridge affects the UK, followed by SW'lies on
Friday. Saturday sees lighter WSW'lies.

The jetstream chart shows a strong and zonal jet far to the north of the UK.
At the 500hPa level there's an upper high over the UK, The other runs show a
similar picture, with an upper high over the UK.
At the surface all the runs show high pressure over the UK.

Evolution to day 7
ECM shows high pressure over the UK on day 6; on day 7 the high drifts
eastwards.
GFS has southerlies and SSW'lies over the UK on days 6 and 7 as high
pressure moves slowly eastwards.

Looking further afield
Days 8 to 10 with ECM show southerlies and SSE'lies giving way to WSW'lies
as high pressure moves away to the east, only to be followed by another high
to the south on day 10.
There are southerlies over the UK on day 8 with GFS due to a ridge to the
east. A trough moves across the UK on day 9, leading to WSW'lies, followed
by a ridge over the UK on day 10.

Ensemble analysis
