Didn't manage to post yesterday (Sunday) on account of a trip out into upper Teesdale (AKA Ken Copley Country!). The trip was a bit of a last minute decision after the forcast of cloudy conditions ended up as wall to wall sunshine. Not as warm as a week agao, but still glorious and better suited to walking.
By way of a change, there was a bit of dampness this morning, not really enough to soak the dry ground, but enough to prove the rain gauge is still functioning. Not quite as cold as I was expecting it to be and I'm sure the 'end-of-the-world' Daily Express snow story will prove to be a little wide of the mark. I'll be surprised if the snow shovel comes out of retirement!
Regards... David Allan.
PS Overheard a chap at High Force Waterfall yesterday complaining about how it had changed so much from when he was a nipper. As he paid his £1.50 to visit the waterfall, he said it had become far too commercialised and it used to be free. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that there's always been a charge and the only sign of 'commercialisation' was a gift/sweet shop and a very small one at that. Apart from that, little else has changed and £1.50 isn't bad for a well maintained path with seats for those in need of a rest.
