Didn't get the opportunity to post yesterday as I was travelling back to Sunderland from a day visiting our son in Sheffield. Feeling very envious as he prepares for a five-week field trip to Svalbard in a few weeks time... somewhere I've always wanted to go!
Encountered some spectacular downfalls of rain at around 5.30pm yesterday heading up the M1 from north of Sheffield towards Leeds. Long time since I last saw that amount of rain coming down. North of Leeds, the roads were dry..
Today hasn't been too bad across Wearside. Mainly sunny intervals and seeming to miss any serious showers.
Thanks to those of you for correcting me with regards to Denis Howell, who I referred to as 'Eric Howells'. Seems that whenever we have a drought, the one sure-fire way of getting it to rain is to either bring in a hosepipe ban or appoint a rain minister!
