It can be an advantage living right on the coast, where, on a day like today, the skies are almost clear over the sea and inland it is overcast and raining. It's been mainly dry and sunny today here in Sunderland (managed to get the grass cut!), while a short shopping trip into Durham and we were back in the overcast skies and heavy showers again. The rain totals below for 'today' are attributed to rain which fell during the early hours of the morning.
