The forcast on BBC TV this morning seemed to indicate that the Northeast of England (the bit where I live) was going to be lashed by heavy rain in the afternoon, just in time for the run home from work. However, I can report that once again Wearside in the place to be, bathed as it is in lovely sunshine. Just the tweeting of the birdies and the sound of a lawnmower was eveident when I arrived home! Thinking, how did they get it so wrong, I took a look at the rainfall radar and couldn't help but notice a large lump of precipitation about 50 miles off the the coast to the east and some heavy-looking showers inland about 15-25 miles to the west and northwest. I'm wondering whether the more consolidated rain out over the sea originally had our name upon it and we escaped? Either way, the weather so far this week has been pretty good here on the coastal fringe, where we can often be plagued with sea fog around this time of the year.
