Default Record wet June coming at Haytor

Getting exciting now.
Up to 1800 13th I have collected 160.0 mm. Record is in 2007 for 204 mm.
With another circa 50mm expected from this coming depression and then more
rain by months end, the record is going to be smashed.

If this disturbed pattern keeps up, a 300mm+ June is on the cards or even a
slight chance of 400mm if we get some decent storms!
COME ON :-)

Saw the headline in the Daily Express as I was shopping today:
'80 mph winds and 3 months of rainfall in 3 days'

So it seems your wish is to be granted Will.

That would be 180 mm in the next 3 days for me.

Present June total is 85.5 mm.
So 265 mm at least for the month.

Highest June total here is 125.9 mm in 1991. Record began in 1984.

You have to hand it to the Express for giving entertaining headlines.

Come on?
Sorry, but I really do not see the attraction of excessive rainfall
(apart from in thunderstorms).

The excitement might have got a bit too much in Takaka in NZ's Golden Bay last December - a station a few kms out of town recorded 1233mm for the month, with about half of that in a couple of days.

Well if we are going to get rubbish weather I'd rather it be
record-breaking rubbish weather, it makes it more interesting and
notable, for me at least.

Also, it might end up being a useful data point for those engaged in
seasonal forecasting research to enable them to examine the
predictability of climate extremes such as anomalously wet seasons.

You have lost track of what weather bureaux were set up for.

If the weather does not improve immediately following this spell, the
hay harvest will be lost in most Britain.
