Though only 30 miles SE of Coventry (MartinR's post), here in Northampton
we've had nothing at all. Rain for the day since 9am = nil. However, just after midday, reception on FM radio went haywire. There are 4 (national) transmitters that can be received here of decent, but by no means perfect quality: Peterborough, Cambridge, Luton and Oxford. Though none of them are in the direction of the torrential rain to the north-west of here, all the stations from all the transmitters on all the radios on FM were full of static, hissing, warbling and drop outs for about an hour at lunch time. Even the two local stations with transmitters about two miles away suffered. DAB reception from the Daventry transmitter (poor quality signal at the best of times) also suffered with continual drop outs. (Reception via roof top dipoles for the main radios, the rest with their own built in wire trail aerials.) Apart from the rain and hail experienced to the north-west of here at lunch time, what else was up there to cause that sort of interference? jim, Northampton |
