Default Very wet again

Heavy rain from 00.30 to 09.00 GMT giving us another 24.5 mm
July total so far 89.6 mm and sunshine for what's it worth 16.7 hours!
Rain stopped but very dull since 09.00, what's new!.
Sunshine hours since June 1st, are a miserable 69.6 (in almost 40 SUMMER
days)!

July as been dire as a summer month since the hot, dry and sunny 2006, but
2012 could well be the worst of all.

sun hours rainfall (mm)
July 2007 119.5 147.8
July 2008 138.7 112.8
July 2009 132.4 166.1 (record)
July 2010 87.1 (record) 90.5
July 2011 143.0 100.2
July 2012 16.7 89.6 (both after 10 days)

From 1971 to 2006, I've only recorded 3 July's with rainfall 100 mm or
above.

1971-2000 average rainfall stands at 55.3mm
1971-2000 average sunshine hours 163.5

Blimey Graham, I thought we've had it bad here but you've beaten me for
the 'dire' summer-less situation.

Sun Rain
July 2007 181 95
July 2008 188 113
July 2009 147 143
July 2010 201 42
July 2011 170 23
July 2012 30 88 (1st - 10th).

Your July 2010 was the dullest, mine was the sunniest!

This weather is definitely having a 'miserable' effect on people around
here, and to be honest, I cannot blame them. As there's nothing you can
do about the weather, you shouldn't let it get you down, but it really
is hard not to.

We have got a little over half the summer remaining, so there is still
plenty of time for the weather pattern to flip. It must be rare for all
three summer months to be dire.

If that doesn't give you a bit of a lift, then one thing that works for
me is spending time with people I really like.

Even in the face of adversity, there is still a lot to be grateful for.

80.4 mm of rain in July here to 0900z this morning, Graham. We've had even less
sun than you. 10.3 hours for the first 10 days of the month, assuming we don't
get any between now and sunset. 58.0 hours in the 40 days since 1st June.
