Default [OBS] Romsey - Saturday 14th July 2012

As if we haven't received enough rain already, we have just
copped our first violent shower of the summer, reducing
the visibility to 700m and adding 3mm of rain in 2 minutes.
The shower began at 0910Z, quickly intensifying to violent
at 0913Z, eased slightly to heavy at 0915Z, then moderate
at 0920Z before stopping at 0923Z. Puddles were rapidly
appearing in areas where they don't usually form. It's not
easy to tell whether the current pptn is rain or showers as
I can see dark convective bases and Nimbostratus at the
same time but I shall maintain showers for now.

Default [OBS] Romsey - Saturday 14th July 2012

Prolonged showers, some moderate over the past couple
of hours. Tiny gaps in the extensive Stratocumulus layer
allowing the briefest of sunny intervals, have done little to
affect the temperature which is struggling to reach +15C.

Default [OBS] Romsey - Saturday 14th July 2012

After midday, the showers merged into a period (over 4 hours)
of rain, occasionally moderate, finally petering out at 1720Z.
Our max temp for the month is running at 4.8C below average
and not a single day has even come close to the 22C average.
Being a cloudy month so far, the min temp is holding up close
to the mean for July.
