The Green Island restaurant looks nice. Sorry to hark back to the old
days again but there used to be a plebs restaurant and a restaurant
for senior management at Bracknell, the senior restauarant being known
as the "Golden Trough". I think the DG used to have his own dining
room as well. These "them and us" attitudes were closely associated
with the parity of Civil Service ranks with military ranks and the Met
Office's close association with the RAF. Thankfully these days are
long past (hopefully!).
