On the other hand, there was what looked like a pretty little vortex on the rainfall radar that crossed the SE early this morning and is now moving over East Anglia giving them a drenching. Looks good on the satellite picture too. A fine (if chilly) morning here, overnight low -0.5C. I'm right on the edge of the cloud shield here, currently arcing it's way across the western sky. -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl |

Here, it rains to some extent pretty much every day so no, it ain't ever gonna stop. (: -- Gianna Peterhead, Scotland buchan-meteo.org.uk |

A comedian started his act thusly: "I'm glad to be able to announce that it's stopped raining." [Cheer from audience] "It's snowing now!" -- Graham P Davis, Bracknell, Berks. What children say about marriage etc. - Q. How would you make a marriage work? A. "Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck" - Ricky, age 10. |

Drenching? That's an understatement if I ever heard one. It didn't stop chucking it down for 6 hours. And I mean CHUCKING IT DOWN. 18.6mm recorded between 7.45 and 13.45. The stream at the bottom of the estate is now well flooded into the whole wooded area. It's not helped by the culvert that goes under the industrial estate being blocked at it's entrance. A normally four inch deep stream is currently over 4 feet deep and not moving very fast anywhere. jim, Northampton |

Have you contacted the EA? They'll send people out with big forks and poles to shift the blockage. -- Cheers Dave. Nr Garrigill, Cumbria. 421m ASL. |

I went on a day trip to Liverpool today on the train. Started out at 11am, with AS over Wolverhampton. The AS gradually thinned. I could see blue sky in the distance, with CS over head when I got to Crewe at 11.40am. By the time I got to Runcorn at 12 noon, the sun came out, with the edge of the cloud sheet covering half the sky. Sunny at Liverpool from 12.20pm to around 2pm, then the mostly clear sky filled in with Sc as usual at this time of year. Joe Wolvo Brummie. |

They've got enough on their plate in the county at the moment, with one severe flood warning on the Nene at Cogenhoe and two more on the Ise at Kettering. There's no immediate threat to property, and people at the bottom of the hill are aware of the situation. I'll give John (local EA rep) a call later in the week when things have quietened down and tell him about it. jim, Northampton |
