More of the same today and some pretty impressive sea conditions to go with it. http://www.sennen-cove.com/todaysurf.htm
It'll be some way short of my wettest year (2000 - 1511.6mm) due to the 1st 5 months only having around 70% of normal rainfall. However it looks set to be the wettest June-December period in my 22 years of records, the current wettest (2000 - 1086.4mm) now well in sight. Plenty of yellow fields now, as the daffodil picking, which started very early this season, stopped over Christmas. It would be good to have more sunshine to appreciate the colour. The flowers must really be piling up on Scilly, Scillonian's in dry dock, the Gry Maritha (the cargo ship) has had few sailings due to Christmas period & bad weather, the helicopter service has closed, Skybus can't fly from Land's End as the airfields part submerged! Even if the flowers got to the mainland only people with good memories can recall a train service. Graham Penzance |

Not so windy here Graham (max gust today = 23 mph), but wet again. And
another day with a maximum temperature 10°C. The warmth since the 14th has been quite sustained, and so has the rain. Dec 14th - 26th: Mean min = 5.4°C Mean max = 11.1°C Mean = 8.3°C Rain = 120 mm. Dec 1st - 26th Mean min = 3.3°C Mean max = 9.5°C Mean = 6.4°C Rain = 142 mm. No daffodils in my garden except the native variety (they won't flower until Feb/March), but the primroses have been flowering now since the start of the month. And the grass keeps growing but the ground is so saturated and soft that mowing the lawn is impossible at the moment. A clear, starry evening with the moon shining brightly (19:40), 9.1°C, RH 83%, DP 6.4°C, 1005 hPa (R), Wind 9 mph SW. -- Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

Wet and windy here again today on Dartmoor where I have now got 2100mm as an annual total in sight! Great stuff. Almost certainly higher at Gwennap Head, except we'll never know due to technical problems. Cornwall CAM during something of a lull on Boxing Day http://www.cornwallcam.co.uk/ Another 8.5mm in the 24 hours to 09:00. Graham Penzance Graham Penzance |
