Nice bit of instability indicated in the cloud formations above Shropshire
at the moment - there is a broken layer of high SC or low AC overhead, and through gaps in the layer I can see "turrets" of cloud gleaming white in the sunshine. They are not especially large in a vertical sense, but they do indicate some level of instability over a relatively shallow layer. The advection of higher theta-w air must be slightly quicker at the base of the layer compared to the top! I've tried to get a picture, but it doesn't really do it justice... -- Freddie Bayston Hill Shropshire 102m AMSL http://www.hosiene.co.uk/weather/ https://twitter.com/#!/BaystonHillWx for hourly reports |
