Default How dry is very dry?

Barometer is rising - now at 1036 here in Porthcawl. It declares 'Very
Dry' as the forecast, but we've had non-stop light drizzle for the last
three days, together with hill and coastal fog. Everywhere is just soggy
and dripping. Looking forward to Will's forecast for the end of next
week (always the end of next week ;-)) coming to fruition.

Cheers
james

What happened to Sunny Porthcawl? ;-) :-)

Oh, and we have had the same weather.

So am I James!
Anything to get rid of this nightmare weather of continuous drizzle, low
cloud and mild clammy dampness. T flat-lining again at around 8C.

Same here, awful weather!
At least in a more mobile westerly or NW set-up there may be more
rain but there is also some sun and a changing skyscape, but this is
just desperately tedious.

Temp currently 8.4C. I often think that temperatures at 1000ft on
Dartmoor are similar to 500ft in NW England.

Last week I went on a couple of bike rides up in the hilly areas around
Gtr Manchester.

The first one involved riding up over Stansfield moor near Hebden Bridge
at over 400m asl into driving rain and hail and I couldn't help thinking
about Will and saying to myself "this is probably what it is like to
live on Dartmoor".

The second one I thought of you as I rode over the West Pennine moors
via Edgworth and Tottington as I looked to the west and got a lovely
view of Bolton in all its glory. :-)

You're taking the barometer too seriously. The legend "Very Dry"
is nothing more than a traditional marking along with "Change", "Rain"
etc. It's certainly not a forecast.
With a Tropical Maritime SW'ly in winter fog and drizzle is all
you can expect - even here on Wednesday there was fog above 600 ft and
a fair amount of drizzle and light rain, even.

Yep almost brings a tear to my eye as I half remember the mills from my
early childhood.

Hmm, OK then. But you sounded a bit grumpy to me, as well you
might. I am grumpy for a diffrerent reason which is that it is not
nearly as mild as forecast here in the SE. At the moment we have fog
and a temperature of 6.5°C. Tomorrow's forecast (Radio 4, 1230 a.m.)
was for a max of 11-12 but I will be surprised if it exceeds 9°C
unless the wind picks up and there seems no reason to suppose it
will. Today's (Fri) max was 8.9°C.
