Will be interested to learn whether and when you have a significant improvement in temperature as reported to take place during the day - thought I saw 6C on the beeb! R Hilton Dorset |

Still sleety snow falling outside at 7:15 and looks like a good deep covering though roads look very slushy here in Plympton. Stan |

Still sleety snow falling outside at 7:15 and looks like a good deep covering though roads look very slushy here in Plympton. Stan It did not settle here. Temp was at min of 1C, dew point 0.8C at 0300. Air temp now 3C. It seemed our elevation (83m asl) and nearness to the coast (less than 1 km) was significant. Sea temp is 10C at Channel Light Vessel, air temp 2.5C. So the maritime boundary layer is playing a role. Snow settled at higher altitude and further from the coast in Plymouth. Cars were snowbound in Derriford Hospital car park (150 m asl) in N. Plymouth. A bit of chaos there I understand. Rainfall is approaching an inch. Flooding the next problem. Again. Similar to yesterday, but yesterday was windy, damp & bleak, today's almost calm & fairly sunny after last nights deluge. http://www.sennen-cove.com/harbourcam.htm In double figures on Scilly Shame the heliport's shut, no live reports on Xcweather for Penzance anymore.
