Alastair I can hear it no problem on IE9.
However it's only the left channel that's working. Now either you are a man of your beliefs and you only use one channel on standard stereo to lower your carbon footprint; or it's simply selective hearing.

You could check that you don't have the volume on your left speaker
(assuming that you use speakers rather than headphones) turned down to

Thanks for your suggestion, but it was not that simple. I have now unplugged
my speakers, rebooted and now both earphones are working. Looks like the
left speaker may be faulty.
