Sunny intervals but large amounts of cloud much of the time. Frequent wintry showers (times local): light snow at 09.15; hail at 10.00; snow and sleet between 12.45 and 13.30; fairly heavy snow at 13.45; sleet at 16.00 and 17.30. Snow shower at 20.00 left a thin covering of wet snow on the ground and was accompanied by a clap of thunder ! Cold and raw - light to moderate WNW wind veered NW in the afternoon.
