Default Cold March to come ?

Both ecm and gfs have consistently pointed to easterlies or northeasterlies in the medium range basically being driven by a strong Greenland High. ALso, do we have another Strat warm event in the making?

Quite a change the past few months from what we have got accustomed to over the years which leads me to think what sort of spring and summer maybe ahead, dare I say a record breaking hot summer, we must be due for one and I've had every sort of difficult weather to contend with for lawn work ~ hey ho.

There is a modest positive correlation between February temperature
anomalies and Spring temperature anomalies. Given that February was on
the cold side I would say that this Spring has an enhanced probability
of being colder than average.

Yes with the very low-latitude polar front jet such a late winter cold spell
has been on the cards for a while. Not convinced of a stratwarm and it
doesn't really matter now with those synoptics. Blocking is often strong at
this time of year and the charts currently show an optimum location for a
very cold NE'ly. Possibly the coldest spell of the winter for many? Early
days yet though.
