What about the summer of 1995? I call it the forgotten summer as nobody seems to remember it, yet I reckon it gives 1976 a run for its money. I spent that summer surfing down at Sennen in Cornwall. To say the weather was stunning would be an understatement. There was also 1989 and 1990; ahhhh, those were the days. Then again, June & July 2006 until things went off track in August but recovered in September to give one of the warmest, sunniest and best Autumns I've known. I remember the summer of 1995. The difference between that and 1976 is that the former came after a wet winter, and I remember the water companies getting a lot of stick as a result (due to water restrictions). |
