Default All hail summer

Some small-ish hail on the way into work this morning. Shrieks of "it's snowing" from within the office - which I assume today is likely more hail/graupel than snow down south...

It is actually (just) in double figures here in North Yorks today but a
brisk wind makes it feel colder. Better than forecast but very poor for
mid-May. Typical Bank Holiday weekend weather mutter... mutter...

We had a rainbow meeting the horizon vertically at sunset last night and
much later on a fierce localised hailstorm.

I wouldn't totally rule it out. Coming back round the M25 this
afternoon, in the Reigate area there was a burst of hail and definitely
soft splodgy sleet on the windscreen. Car thermometer plunged to 5C.
