Latest report from AEMet (Spanish Met Agency) shows that this May has been
the coolest recorded since 1985, with an average temperature of 14.6C over the country as a whole, 1.3C below the 1971-2000 average. It was particularly cool in the northern half of the country, with temperatures more than 2 degrees below normal over a wide area. Santander, among others in the region, had its coolest May since records began in 1951. Despite the overall cool picture, there were some warm periods, notably in early May with 35.0C at Valencia on 7th and 33.6C at Malaga on the 9th. It was also a fairly dry month with overall rainfall at 47mm, about 25% less than the long-term average. Further details (in Spanish) at: http://www.aemet.es/es/noticias/2013...ogicojunio2013 |
