** WARNING ** Don't read this if you're fed up with me moaning about MetO forecasts - You have been warned
Despite the MetO having just downgraded today's forecast for Penzance to 15C & white cloud at 10am (isn't a forecast supposed to be for the future?) and the same at noon, it has so far (now 11:30) been a day oif unbroken warm sunshine. Currently 18.3C and rising. It's still forecast to be cloudy all day, aren't they able to use satellite imagery any more?

Still, at least that's an improvement on yesterday's forecast. When I drove back from Sennen at 18:00 (just missed a large basking shark - in the sea, not crossing the road)in glorious sunshine to be told in the 'forecast?' for 16:00 that there would be a black cloud & 2 nasty raindrops.
Best of all, the MetO now provides beach forecasts, so details of the sea state etc. Not quite Magic Seaweed though, take a look at
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/w...)#?tab=fiveDay for Porthminster, St Ives. The beach faces due east, so I make a NW wind offshore, but apparently it's onshore. May I, as a geography graduate, a degree often held in low regard on USW, suggest that the person responsible for this is told that if you hold a map the right way up, the beaches facing to the right are facing east, and that a NW wind will come from the top left.
There, I feel better now
