It's looking increasingly likely that there will be a Thundery Breadown between 25th - 27th July, as a branch of the Jet Stream dives South in the mid Atlantic towards Portugal before swinging back North towards South West England.
The air over most of the UK for the past 2 weeks has been very stable, but the scenario above will scoop up a lot of warm moist air of Biscay, which could provide a classic Thundery Breadown in SW England like we used to get in the summers of the 1980's http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten/fsavneur.html After that, anyones guess? |

Hi Richard, I know there's isolated thunderstorms breaking out & there may be some other places in SW England tomorrow like Dartmoor, but from about Wed onwards next week there will be a much more organised thundery breadown as a result of the Jet Stream swinging South then back North towards SW England.
It's all because that's when my week's holiday starts :-( |

Quite happy to be a couple of days out with this forecast, & the South West missing the worst of the Thunderstorms, as it now looks like the weather won't be too bad after all for the start of my holiday on Thursday & Friday.
