Seems to have been the treand this week that storms over France have tracked just to the SE of us each time. Last night I thought this one had it's name on us. Beginning to wonder if we will see any rain today now? http://www.sat24.com/?culture=en Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net "Weather Home & Abroad" |

Beginning to wonder if we will see any rain today now? We are going to get it shortly in Brussels. Sky has been darkening steadily over the past hour - first spots of rain falling as I write at 09.30 Belgian time (08.30 BST). http://www.kmi.be/meteo/view/nl/1586615-Webcams.html http://www.buienradar.nl/bliksem-1-uur http://www.buienradar.nl/afgelopen-2-uur Colin Youngs Brussels |

They are still forecasting heavy rain, now later in the day, but of course this is not what the forecast was saying last night! Dave |

Remember that when viewing satellite images of large storms, you are only really seeing the top of the storm which is likely to be much larger than the base (because the anvils spread out rapidly), and that said storm top may well be moving in a slightly different direction to the rain area underneath it (because of the wind shear with height). Finally, the computer models do not seem to perform well with developing systems moving north from Biscay, and therefore cannot always be relied upon. |

I always view together with the rainfall radar, as you say, the anvil overhang is massive on that storm system. Keith (Southend) |
